AFH Athlete Gabrielle Wilkinson Inspires Students in PA
As Athletes for Hope’s CHAMPS program continues to grow nationwide, we’re excited to highlight one of our most inspiring visits of the school year. In March, our CHAMPS team traveled to Schwenksville, Pennsylvania, where over 50 enthusiastic 4th grade students at Schwenksville Elementary School got the chance to meet a true hometown hero.
Gabrielle Wilkinson, a professional track and field athlete and proud Pennsylvania native, joined the students for an in-person CHAMPS session—following a series of previous virtual visits with the class. While back home in Philadelphia, Gabby made time in her schedule to visit the students she had already connected with online, bringing her message of wellness, leadership, and resilience full circle.
“CHAMPS is an amazing program because it helps to teach students the importance of well-being—not only physical health but mental health!” said Wilkinson. “It encourages the students to take care of themselves and think about what it means to be aware of their body, help others, and be a good leader.“
This special visit was made possible thanks to the partnership and coordination of Ms. Kathy Long, the CHAMPS teacher at Schwenksville Elementary, who shared how meaningful the program has been for her students.

The day didn’t end there. After the CHAMPS session, Gabby also spent time with the school’s Girls on the Run team—empowering the next generation of female leaders and athletes by leading by example. Gabby’s commitment to making an impact both on and off the track is what makes her the true definition of a CHAMP.
We are so proud of Gabby and all the athletes who make time to participate in CHAMPS school visits across the country every week during the school year. From teaching students the fundamentals of mental and physical well-being to encouraging positive leadership and self-care, CHAMPS is helping to build stronger, healthier communities—one school at a time.
A special thank you to our incredible partners at ESPN for supporting this powerful work and helping us expand the reach of the CHAMPS program nationwide.
