The following explains our information gathering and dissemination practices. By using this site, you consent to the terms and conditions of this Privacy Policy. AFH reserves the right to modify this Privacy Policy from time to time.

Information We Collect AFH believes that personally identifying information, such as your name, postal and e-mail address or telephone number is private and confidential. You can have general access to our site without providing any such personal information. AFH collects personal information only when you voluntarily submit it, such as when you register to receive our newsletters or other information, e-mail comments, request information, place an order, make a donation, or register to be involved in the activities and/or programs of Athletes for Hope. Release of Information to Third Parties AFH does not release your personal information to third parties unless you have given us permission to do so or unless such release is required to comply with applicable law.

Security

The security of your personal information is important to us. When you enter sensitive information such as a credit card number on our donor or order forms, we encrypt that information using secure technology. We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the personal information submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it. However, no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. Therefore, while we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Links to Other Web sites

The AFH website contains links or references to other Web sites outside of our control — including those of our sponsors, partners and founding athletes — and the privacy policies of these sites may differ from our own. Please be aware that we have no control over such Web sites and our privacy policy does not apply to them.

How Do We Use “Cookies”?

A cookie is a series of data characters that, when programmed into a Web site, is placed by the Web server into the browser’s application folder on your computer. Once placed onto your machine, the cookie will allow the Web site to “recognize” you as a unique individual. Visitors should be aware that non-personal information and data may be automatically collected by the AFH Web site to facilitate the visitor’s ongoing access to and use of the site, and allow the site to track usage behavior and compile aggregate data that will allow content improvements. Cookies are not programs that come onto a visitor’s system and damage files. Generally, cookies work by assigning a unique number to the visitor that has no meaning outside the assigning site. If a visitor does not want information collected through the use of cookies, there is a simple procedure in most browsers that allows the visitor to deny or accept the cookie feature.

Note to Parents on Our Privacy Policy

AFH welcomes children to learn more about our organization and, where appropriate, find opportunities to serve their communities through volunteer activities. However, we encourage this to be done only with their parent or guardian’s knowledge and supervision. Accordingly, we will not knowingly collect or use any personal information from children that we know to be under the age of 13. If AFH should collect such information in the future, it will do so only in accordance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998.
