June 2022 AFH University Recap!

While sports are in the off-season and graduations have come and gone, student-athletes at AFH University campuses are still making a difference in their communities. We were also proud to announce our 2022 AFH University Student-Athlete and Team of the Year after our nationwide voting campaign in May. Check out the highlights below and be sure to follow us on social media for the latest and greatest!

2022 AFH University Awards

Student Athlete of the Year

Qymeshia Mayhew of Southern University Track & Field

Qymeshia was always enthusiastic and is passionate about service for her Baton Rouge and Southern University community. She was at almost all AFH U service events, and always helped get information out to the larger campus. When at outreach events, she her energy was apparent, and her love of helping out and being there shone through.

Team of the Year

Michigan State University Field Hockey

All year, MSU Field Hockey did a tremendous job participating and facilitating outreach and service events. They played an enormous role at the MSU SAAC Food Drive, dropping donation bags off at community homes and going back out to pick up donations, hosted a Be The Match blood drive on campus and participated in several other service opportunities throughout the year.

Southern Football Player Honored

Tyler Judson of Southern Football had the honor of being the guest speaker at LA Key Academy’s Athletic Banquet. Students were motivated and excited to engage with a local student athlete!

I had a great time talking to the kids at LA Key Academy! Special shout out to coach Stewart for the opportunity to share my story, you never know who you’ll impact with the power of the tongue.
