Courtney Henderson, LSU Women’s Soccer
January AFH U Student-Athlete of the Month
After learning about The Parole Project in class, Courtney was eager to make an impact with the organization. She coordinated a game day experience for previously incarcerated men as a positive and uplifting step as they reenter into the community. From her nomination: “She is such a hard worker and outstanding leader. She has led the LSU Soccer Team into some great community engagement initiatives.”
Macalester College
January AFH U Team of the Month
The Macalester Women’s Basketball team jumped into service this year after participating in an AFH U workshop through the NCAA. They immediately asked to connect to their local community through supporting homeless youth through Kids in Need Foundation and a local school through AFH Fit virtual visits. This team has proactively sought opportunities to serve and have been leaders in their community and campus.
Taryn Antoine, LSU Softball
February AFH U Student-Athlete of the Month
Taryn is an Athlete’s for Hope Intern and she has been an incredible resource for all of LSU’s team leads. From her nomination: “She provides excellent information for us and is always available to answer any questions we may have. We are very grateful for her!”
LSU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee
February AFH U Team of the Month
LSU SAAC coordinated a toy drive collecting over 100 Christmas gifts for youth in the Big Buddy program. With a surplus of toys, Big Buddy was able to donate toys to another agency to support families in need during the holiday season.
