Athletes Take Part in Mentoring Campaign

The National Mentoring Partnership’s (MENTOR) mission is to fuel the quantity and quality of mentoring relationships for America’s young people and to close the mentoring gap. Athletes for Hope has connected athletes interested in mentoring with MENTOR for a little over a year now. Sports are a great avenue to help encourage young people. No one knows this fact better than our member athletes. When MENTOR came to us with the idea of a month highlighting mentors in the athletics space, we knew just who to contact.

As the school year winds down and summer approaches, it is important to highlight how positive relationships support a healthy lifestyle. Chanelle Price, middle distance runner, Shannon Boxx, former member of the US Women’s Soccer Team, and Kendra Chambers, USATF member, lent their voices to the mentoring movement by offering up their thoughts about getting active and staying engaged in a Q&A for the organization’s blog.

Thank you, MENTOR, for supporting kids and connecting them with leaders promoting a healthy lifestyle in the community. Thank you, athletes, for sharing how your mentors helped you remain active and encouraged you along your path to success.
