June 18, 2008 - Jeff Green of the Seattle SuperSonics visits Hope for Henry’s Summer Carnival at Georgetown University Hospital
On Wednesday, NBA All-Rookie Team member Jeff Green, made a special visit to the Lombardi Center at Georgetown University Hospital, where the Hope for Henry Foundation was holding its annual Summer Carnival for all the kids being treated there.

It was a perfect day for the Carnival, which brought balloon artists, clowns, magicians and face painters along with midway games, a photo booth, spin and sand art activities, pizza and ice cream to the kids. All of the patients from the outpatient clinic who attended, and the kids up in the PICU and Hem/Onc floor to sick to attend all received sand pails filled with summer-themed presents and prizes.

At 12:30, Jeff Green, along with former Georgetown teammate and recent graduate, Tyler Crawford, as well as Meredith Cox, a junior on the Georgetown women’s basketball team, all arrived to hang out with the kids, take some pictures, sign a few autographs and try their hand at the midway games. After some light encouragement from the kids and families, both Jeff and Tyler tried to see if their basketballs skills translated to the Ring Toss – they didn’t and a young boy was proud to announce that he landed more rings than the two of them combined. Tyler was happy to join his friend and former teammate in visiting with the kids, "If they look up to us," he said, "why wouldn't we come to show them a great time?"

Jeff attended Georgetown University and played three years for the Hoyas before leaving after his Junior year to be selected 5th overall in the 2007 NBA Draft by the Seattle SuperSonics. Jeff is back in Washington, DC for part of this offseason, taking classes at Georgetown and working towards his degree. On Wednesday, Jeff took time during a break between his classes to visit the Carnival, he said, "This is a great opportunity to just have fun with these kids, mingle and hang out."

About Hope for Henry
The Hope for Henry Foundation is a national 501c3 that was established in 2003 to honor the legacy of Henry Strongin Goldberg, who died at the age of seven from Fanconi anemia, a rare, fatal genetic disease. During his short life, Henry taught his family, friends, doctors, and all who came in contact with him how to live well and laugh hard – even as he battled a terrible disease. The Foundation that bears his name provides gifts of high-end, portable consumer electronics and other well-chosen gifts and programs to children undergoing treatment for life-threatening illnesses.

At the moment the Foundation partners with Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C., Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack, New Jersey and University of Minnesota Medical Center Fairview in Minneapolis, but has plans to expand to more hospitals and more children in the near future.
