Hospital Heroes Program
Since 2007, Athletes for Hope has connected professional, Olympic, and collegiate athletes to children’s hospitals around the U.S. In total, we’ve facilitated more than 800 athlete in-person visits to more than 70 hospitals. However, as a result of COVID-19, most in-person visits are currently not an option. In response, AFH has been arranging virtual hospital visits for AFH Members with existing hospital partners. Currently, we facilitate connecting athletes with hospitals and their patients in the following ways:
- Individual (in-person or virtual) visit to their local children’s hospital
- Team or group visit (in-person or virtual) to a local hospital near them
- Sharing recorded messages that contain words of encouragement and align with national holidays like Valentine’s Day, Love Your Pet Day and World Literacy Day for hospitals to share on their internal TV system
- Sharing a personal video with an individual patient in dire need of encouragement
AFH is consistently adapting this program to meet athletes and hospital administrators where they are and make these visits as seamless as possible.

Miracle Moments Program
Miracle Moments is an expansion of AFH’s existing hospital visit program. With the support of Children’s Miracle Network (CMN), AFH Member Athletes will be virtually connected to children in hospitals nationwide allowing them to spread joy through various types of opportunities.
A patient of ours came to the playroom after his visit with the Los Angeles Chargers. In his words, “this is definitely one of the top 5 best days of my life.” He came in super happy and spoke about his entire conversation with [The Chargers’ Joshua Kelley]. He is so grateful that [Athletes for Hope] set up the visit.A CMN Hospital Representative
Working with CMN offers AFH and its Member Athletes an unprecedented level of impact and opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children in the communities where athletes live and play. To learn more about Children’s Miracle Network, visit CMNHospitals.org.
