Washington Freedom Stars Play Ball with Kids from DC’s Centro NiaFresh off their victory from Wednesday night, Washington Freedom’s Christen Karniski, Alex Singer and Cat Whitehill spent Thursday afternoon passing and dribbling with kids from DC’s own Centro Nia, a non-profit and bilingual organization focused on providing education and family support services to families in the DC metropolitan area. The pro players spent the first part of the afternoon talking about the importance of fair play, self-confidence and team work, and answered questions about being a pro athlete and spending time with Washington’s own female soccer team. Afterwards, they split the kids into groups and spent most of the afternoon practicing soccer techniques and teaching their teammates for the day all of the tricks of the trade. Afterwards, the children received autographs from the players and spent some time casually kicking the soccer ball around the field. Both the soccer players and the children had a great time, and Karniski, Singer and Whitehill all feel excited to continue such clinics with their local community in the future!
