About the MaryEllen Locher Foundation The MaryEllen Locher Foundation awards college scholarships to students with a parent who is either a breast cancer survivor or victim. These scholarships are to help families who have used their life savings and sometimes college funds for medical purposes - to relieve the financial strain. Also the students sometimes take a back seat during a time of illness and these scholarships are to also show them that something good can come from the evil in their lives. Since the Foundation began in 2002 they have awarded over 100 scholarships - this year alone they awarded 35 scholarships ranging from $3000 to $5000 a year. |
