Stuart Holden

BIOGRAPHY

Stuart Holden was born in Aberdeen, Sweden. After attending Awty International in Houston, he played soccer at Clemson University for three semesters before signing with the English club Sunderland in 2005. Holden returned to his hometown of Houston to play for the MLS Dynamo in 2006, where he was a member of their MLS Championship squads in both 2006 and 2007. As an emerging midfielder who has been very involved in the Houston community, he was named both the Dynamo Young Player of the year and Humanitarian of the year in 2008. Holden also appeared in action as part of the 2008 U.S. Olympic men’s soccer team.

  • Scored winning goal against Japan as member of 2008 U.S. Olympic men’s team
  • Converted penalty kick in 2006 MLS Championship
  • Member of both U-20 and U-23 U.S. National Teams
  • 2004 Second Team All-ACC
