Athletes Coming Together for "National Day of Service and Remembrance"

For the third straight year, Athletes for Hope mobilized its member athletes on September 11th, The National Day of Service and Remembrance. Athletes for Hope connected over 55 athletes with over 40 charitable causes throughout the country. AFH members from a wide range sports and teams participated in hospital visits, hosted sports clinics, spent time with veterans, attended fundraisers, and spoke at special events.

Examples of AFH members taking action in honor of September 11th…

-Latroy Hawkins & Kameron Loe (Milwaukee Brewers) spent a few hours with veterans while on a road trip in St. Louis.

-Carli Lloyd (US Women’s National Soccer Team) participated in a radio fundraiser from the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

-Nick Hundley (San Diego Padres) dropped in at the Phoenix Children’s Hospital and spent time with patients.

-Tiffany Williams (USA Track & Field) held a track and field clinic for members of the Boys and Girls Club in Kissimmee, FL.

-Etan Thomas (Atlanta Hawks) spoke to a group of 50 kids at the DC Correctional Facility.

When asked about the importance of The National Day of Service, Etan Thomas of the Atlanta Hawks, stated, “When you think about all of those individuals who lost their lives; it makes you think about just how blessed you are. It’s great that Athletes for Hope gives this collective group of athletes from across the nation the chance to give back.”
