Professional Volleyball Player Raquel Ferreira Caulkins Spreads Joy of ReadingIn honor of the September 11th Day of Service and Remembrance, Raquel Ferreira Caulkins swapped her sun glasses for a pair of reading glasses. Ferreira, an AVP volleyball player from Brazil, headed to the Huntington Beach Public Library to read to a group of 60 preschool-aged children from the community. The library’s special event allowed the children to learn about the message behind the United We Serve Campaign through stories and songs about working together and helping each other. Raquel had a lot of fun reading to and interacting with the children. For more information about the Huntington Beach Library and Cultural Center and its programs visit www.hpbl.org. |
