BIOGRAPHY

Mitzi Kremer Tighe is currently the head coach of the Tampa YMCA Swimming team in Tampa, Florida. She has spent nearly her entire life around the pool, swimming competitively from 5 until 24. After a decorated career at Clemson University, Mitzi teamed with Mary Wayte, Dara Torres and Laura Walker to win the bronze medal in the 4x100 freestyle relay at the 1988 Seoul Summer Olympics. She is married to Mark Tighe, with whom she coaches at Tampa YMCA swimming.

Athletic Achievements
  • Became the first female swimmer inducted into the Clemson Hall of Fame in 1994
  • Bronze Medalist in the 4 x 100 freestyle relay and qualifier in the 200 and 400 meter freestyle at the 1988 Seoul Summer Olympics
  • Won the NCAA championship in the 200 and 500 meter freestyle events
  • Named an NCAA All-American sixteen times
  • Won five individual and three team ACC championships during her college career
