The Mario Lemieux Foundation partnered with NHL Auctions to present Bid for 66, an exclusive online auction event that was held between November 10-20, 2008, at www.mariolemieux.org. The auction proceeds benefitted the cancer and other medical research initiatives of the Mario Lemieux Foundation.

Some of the items that were available during the online auction were: Autographed game-used memorabilia from Pittsburgh Penguins stars Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Jordan Staal, Miroslav Satan, Max Talbot, Brooks Orpikplus; Mario Lemieux autographed items including prints, jerseys, MLCI items and a special game-used stick; memorabilia from the NHL, NFL, MLB and NASCAR - including items from Jason Taylor, Larry Fitzgerald, Emmitt Smith, Cal Ripken, Jr., Joe Sakic and Jeff Gordon; and apparel and collectables from the Mario Lemieux Celebrity Invitational.
