Larry Nance

BIOGRAPHY

Larry was born in Anderson, South Carolina. He attended Clemson University and played 13 season in the NBA with the Phoenix Suns and Cleveland Cavaliers. Known as “Leapin’ Larry” for the dunking prowess that made him the first-ever Slam Dunk Champion in 1984 and his strong shot-blocking skills. Since retiring from the NBA, Larry has gotten involved in drag racing and currently races in the International Hot Rod Association.

Athletic Achievements
  • Named to the Cavaliers’ All Time Starting Five
  • Jersey was retired by the Cavaliers on January 30, 1995
  • Ranks 2nd in Cavaliers history in blocked shots and field goal percentage
  • Ranks 4th in rebounds, 6th in field goals made and attempted, 7th in free throws made and 8th in free throws attempted
  • NBA All-Defensive First Team in 1989, 1992 and 1993
  • 1984 Slam Dunk Champion
