AFH Athletes Host First Ever Cross-Sport Match
On Friday October 15th, six AFH athletes participated in the first ever cross-sport match with the West Hollywood Boys and Girls Club. The athletes that participated were:

• 2010 Olympic hopeful: Fatimoh Muhammed

• AVP player Nicole Branagh

• WTA and Wimbledon doubles champion: Vania King

• USA Track & Field runner Khadevis Robinson

• Women’s Professional soccer player Shannon Boxx

• USA Track & Field hurdler Lashinda Demus

The afternoon kicked off with the athletes introducing themselves and their sport and stressed the importance of being healthy and staying active. They then hosted the first ever AFH Olympics, which was comprised of competitions in sport specific drills. The kids were divided into teams, which each athlete as a team captain. The teams competed against each other in five events intended to improve their fundamental skills in each of the athlete’s respective sport. For example, there was a round of “bumping” to work on volleyball skills, dribbling soccer balls through cones, and shuffling through a short course to practice tennis footwork.

Congratulations to Khadevis Robinson’s team for being declared the winner!
