May 15, 2008 - US Soccer’s Kacey White visits Children’s Medical Center Dallas and Bryan’s House during her “week off” in Texas
After being introduced to Athletes for Hope by her Women’s National Team teammates, Kacey White immediately jumped right in a got involved in her community. While home in the Dallas area, Kacey became active with two wonderful organizations in the community.

On Wednesday morning, Kacey visited Children’s Medical Center. She spent about two hours visiting various recreational areas and playrooms. In the Oncology Ward she was challenged to a game of Wii Bowling by three excited and rambunctious kids. She also visited the Cardiac Ward and played basketball and foosball with two wonderful boys.

“It was so much fun, a great way to start my day.” said Kacey. “Since it was early, I only saw about twelve kids, but I really got to spend quality time and interact with them. The hospital staff, who were wonderful, had to pull me out to rooms to move on to the next, because I didn’t want to leave.”

Kacey is planning to come back and visit the next time she is home, and the hospital staff is already excited for the next visit. Danette Tidwell, administrative assistant for the Child Life Department, expressed the entire staff’s gratitude and admiration for Kacey. “She was just wonderful,” Tidwell said, “and she is welcome back anytime!”

On Thursday afternoon, Kacey headed over to Bryan’s House to tour the program and see some of the kids. She arrived at 3:00pm, just as the 3 and 4 year olds were awake and active. She got to meet the staff and read the children a story, and even play some soccer with them.
