John Harkes Leads Soccer Drills at Functional Fitness 4 KidsOn September 29th John Harkes visited with 40 kids at Oak View Elementary School through Functional Fitness 4 Kids. The program, which works to end the childhood obesity epidemic, offers free after school programs that provide fitness training, nutritional information and healthy snacks. The afternoon began with warm-up drills and agility runs led by John. Afterwards, the kids rotated through three different stations that focused on core strength, a leg workout and soccer skills. John led the soccer station that consisted of different passing drills and games. At the end of the rotations John offered an autograph session that allowed the kids to engage with him one on one. They also received a healthy snack for their hard work. The kids were extremely excited to have John visit them and learn some new soccer skills from a player in the National Soccer Hall of Fame. John thoroughly enjoyed passing on his passion for soccer and interacting with the kids. It was a wonderful first visit to Functional Fitness 4 Kids and he looks forward to more to come!
