Jack Cassel

BIOGRAPHY

Jack Cassel was born on August 8, 1980 in Los Angeles, California. Cassel attended L.A. Pierce Junior College and Loyola Marymount University after graduating from Kennedy High School. Cassel played for the Idaho Falls Padres and Fort Wayne Wizards at the beginning of his minor league career. Cassel has spent most of his professional baseball career in the San Diego Padres organization. After signing on June 21, 2000, he served mainly as a reliever in the minor leagues until 2006. Cassel made his Major League Baseball debut with the San Diego Padres on August 10, 2007. He currently has s a minor league contract with the Cleveland Indians as of January 2009. Cassel along with fellow baseball player Chris Dickerson are founders of Players for the Planet, a foundation that brings professional athletes together to inspire communities to build awareness of the growing environmental crisis.
