Gwen Jorgensen

BIOGRAPHY

Gwen Rosemary Jorgensen was a standout in both swimming and track at Waukesha South High School. In college, she was a member of the track & field, cross country and swimming teams at the University of Wisconsin. There, she earned All-American honors in both track and cross country. In 2009, she was the Big Ten champion in the 5,000m and 3,000m. Additionally, she was a six-time Academic All-Big Ten choice and recipient of the Big Ten Medal of Honor in 2009.

In just her second triathlon after posting the fastest run split by more than 2 minutes, Gwen finished second at the 2010 FISU World University Championships in Valencia, Spain. After an impressive string of top ten victories, she led the U.S. with a runner-up finish at the 2010 PATCO Pan American Championship in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Because of her success, she was named the 2010 USA Triathlon Rookie of the Year after a remarkable debut season as an elite triathlete.

Gwen earned her Master's in Accounting from Wisconsin and passed the CPA exam. She is currently employed as an accountant at Ernst & Young in Milwaukee.
