WNBA Player Yolanda Griffith and Christina Fusano of the WTA Visit UC Davis Children’s Hospital

On December 14, 2010, WNBA player Yolanda Griffith and WTA player Christina Fusano took time out of their busy schedules to visit UC Davis Children’s Hospital in Sacramento, CA. Both players participated in the visit as part of AFH’s Hope for the Holidays rally which connected pro and Olympic athletes from many different sports to those who can’t be home this holiday season.

“[Yolanda and Christina] were in the room autographing a ball cap and I heard laughter,” Diana Sundberg, Child Life & Creative Arts Therapy Manager, said. “It was a beautiful sound to hear and wonderful to know such a visit can bring such joy even in the face of tragedy.”

During their visit, Yolanda and Christine had the opportunity to visit with several children through a variety of activities. First they visited the playroom to sign caps and balls, followed by making Christmas ornaments with the kids, and lastly they spent time with children at their bedsides who couldn’t come to the playroom.

Yolanda and Christine truly enjoyed the experience and are looking forward to visiting again after the holidays.
