The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Honors The Jeff Gordon Foundation with Partners Against Leukemia & Lymphoma Award (April 7, 2008)

Award recognizes individuals or organizations that have supported LLS for more than 10 years

Washington, D.C. – (April 7, 2008) - The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society will honor The Jeff Gordon Foundation at a special awards ceremony hosted by LLS’s Board of Directors in Washington, D.C. on Monday, April 7, 2008.

The Jeff Gordon Foundation has been a generous and steadfast supporter of LLS for more than 10 years. The Foundation is especially interested in helping children facing life-threatening diseases and has supported various pediatric initiatives for the Western North Carolina Chapter of LLS as well as one of LLS’s national pediatric teleconferences. NASCAR star Jeff Gordon personally gave a live introduction to the program last year and has committed funds to it again this year.

The awards ceremony is part of LLS’s annual Mission Day in Washington, D.C., which brings together thousands of LLS volunteers from across the country for the purpose of having their voices heard before their legislators in Congress to advance policies to improve the quality of life of blood cancer patients and their families, and build awareness for LLS and its mission.

“Jeff Gordon is a national sports hero, but he and his foundation are also heroes for those patients and their families for whom they have provided so much support over the years, and they are truly deserving of this recognition,” said David Frantze, Chairman of LLS.
