Gary van der Wege passes on the Olympic spirit!

On Saturday, June 19th, 2009, U.S. Paralympic Fencer Gary van der Wege visited and spoke with the Texas Elks Camp, a summer camp that serves children ages 7 -15 with varying emotional and physical needs. During his visit, Gary gave a presentation to the campers that focused on respect as an Olympic ideal and his own Olympic experiences. The campers were very responsive, had many good questions, and thoroughly enjoyed Gary’s visit.

In the coming weeks, Gary plans on returning to the Texas Elks Camp to demonstrate wheelchair fencing to all of the kids. Gary can’t wait for his return trip!
