Etan Thomas

BIOGRAPHY

Etan Thomas was born in Harlem, New York and later moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. A graduate of Tulsa’s Booker T. Washington High School, Etan returned to Harlem each summer with his mom and brother, Julian. He graduated from Syracuse University and was selected in the 2000 NBA Draft. A member of the Atlanta Hawks, Etan lives in Mitchellville, Maryland, with his wife Nichole, who played women’s basketball at Syracuse and his two children, Malcolm and Imani. Outside of basketball, Thomas is well-known as a published poet and vocal political activist. For information on Etan, you can check out his website.

  • Drafted 12th overall in the 2000 NBA Draft
  • Career leader in blocked shots (383) and field goal percentage (.599) at Syracuse
  • Selected NCAA All-America, Honorable Mention in 2000
  • Named Big East Defensive Player of the Year and All-Big East Second Team in 1999
  • Named Big East Most Improved Player and All-Big East Third Team in 1998
