Emily Cook was born in Boston, MA. After growing up in the New England area she moved to Utah to train full time as a freestyle aerial skier. She competed in her first World Cup event in 1997 and has consistently been at the top of the standings since then. She qualified for the 2002 Olympic Games but was unable to compete as a result of an injury to her foot. She recovered nicely and has returned to the top of the freestyle skiing world since then. Her success has enabled Emily to start “Visa Champions Creating Champions,” a mentoring program in which Olympians from a variety of winter sports work with youngsters who otherwise might not be exposed to their sport. She also serves as spokesperson for Right to Play.
