BIOGRAPHY

Dustin Eli Whiteside was born October 22, 1979 in New Albany, Mississippi. He made his major league debut with the Baltimore Orioles in 2005. In 2008, he played in the minors for the Minnesota Twins and San Francisco Giants organizations. He was called up to the San Francisco Giants on May 24, 2009 as the starting catcher. On July 10, 2009 Whiteside caught Jonathan Sanchez’s no-hitter, becoming the first Giants backstop to catch a no-hitter since 1976. In August 2009 he hit a grand slam, his first Major League home run.
