Chris Dudley Inspires Children at a Portland Diabetes ClinicRetired NBA player Chris Dudley volunteered his time on September 11th to a cause that hits very close to home. After being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 16, Chris formed the Chris Dudley Foundation in 1998 to improve the lives of diabetic children. Since then, he has been extremely passionate about empowering and encouraging others with diabetes to dream big. On the September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance, Dudley visited the children at the Harold Schnitzer Diabetes Clinic and Doernbechers Hospital at OHSU in Portland. He took time to listen to the challenges that the children and young adults who are living with the disease face. The visit also gave him the opportunity to share his story and encourage the children to always follow their dreams. The children were very excited to have Chris there. They felt encouraged by the success he has had, despite the disease. His presence serves as a testament to the truth that they can achieve their goals no matter what. Today was a wonderful opportunity for Chris to serve a cause that he is passionate about. He had a wonderful time visiting the children at the Diabetes Clinic and looks forward to another trip in the near future! More Photos: |
