Diego Gutierrez

BIOGRAPHY

Diego was born and raised in Bogota, Colombia. He was drafted by the Kansas City Wizards in the 1996 MLS College Draft. He went to Chicago in the 1997 MLS Expansion Draft. Diego became a US citizen in 2000 and received a cap with the US National Team. Diego served on the board of directors of the FireWorks for Kids Foundation. He is heavily involved with the United Nations Foundations Nothing But Nets anti-malaria campaign. He joined President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush at the White House for World Malaria Awareness Day and was invited to participate at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s Malaria Forum. In 2007 Diego was named the US Soccer Federation/MLS Humanitarian of the Year. Diego is married to his wife, Ginna, and has three children.
