BIOGRAPHY

Clayton Richard is a left-handed pitcher for the San Diego Padres. He was born in Lafayette, Indiana where he was valedictorian of his high school class. He went on to the University of Michigan where he played both football and baseball in his sophomore year. Seeing his abilities in baseball advance more than in football, he decided to focus only on playing baseball for the Wolverines.

In 2005, Clayton’s hard work and talent paid off and he was drafted by the White Sox. He made his first major league appearance in July, 2008 and made the opening day roster in 2009.

He was traded in July of 2009 to the San Diego Padres, where he is currently playing.
