Chasity Melvin

BIOGRAPHY

Chasity Melvin attended North Carolina State and graduated with a BS in Mass Communications in 1998. She was a four year starter for the Wolfpack and set a single semifinal game record with 37 points in a loss to Louisiana Tech. Chasity was the 2nd pick by the Philadelphia Rage in the ABL Draft.

Although the ABL later folded, the WNBA was flourishing and the Cleveland Rockers selected Chasity with the 12th pick in the 1st Round. Chasity played in Cleveland for five seasons before the team folded in 2005. She was then picked up by the Washington Mystics and played three seasons before being traded to the Chicago Sky in 2007. Chasity became a free agent in 2008 and returned to Washington.

Chasity is currently in her 11th WNBA season as the starting center for the Mystics. She has also played overseas for 10 years. Chasity has spent two seasons in Gydnia, Poland, winning two league championships; four seasons in Israel, winning one cup championship; one year in Como, Italy, winning a league championship; and one season in Vigo, Spain, winning another league championship. She also had stints in Korea, China, and Moscow.
