Andre AgassiBIOGRAPHYAndre founded the Andre Agassi Charitable Foundation in 1994, a nonprofit organization to assist at-risk youth in Las Vegas, where Andre was raised. Since its inception, the Foundation has supported more than 20 organizations and raised more than $60 million for programs designed to enhance a child's character, self-esteem and career possibilities. In 2001, the Foundation opened the Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy in Las Vegas, a tuition-free charter school for at-risk children in the area. Located in the heart of Las Vegas' most at-risk neighborhood, AACPA was created specifically to improve skill levels and combat lowered academic expectations while creating a climate of hope among the community's most challenged children.Andre's foundation also takes the form of assisting children with their athletic potential. His Boys & Girls Club sees 2,000 children throughout the year and boasts a world class junior tennis team. It also has a basketball program (the Agassi Stars) and a rigorous curriculum that encourages a mix of academics and athletics. Andre began his professional tennis career in 1986 at the age of 16. His performance on the court has earned him 60 career men's singles titles, including eight Grand Slam singles titles. He has won 17 ATP Masters Series tournaments, more than any other player. Andre stands today as the only male player in the world to win all four Grand Slam titles and Olympic gold. Andre Agassi Facebook Page |
